Biometric attendance software, without the hardware lock-in

Attendance hardware is a solved problem. Attendance software is not — because almost all of it is written by a hardware manufacturer to work with that manufacturer's devices, and stops at producing a report.

Biometric attendance software receives punches from a terminal and turns them into an attendance record. The two things that separate good software from the free tool in the box are scope and depth. Scope: does it support more than one manufacturer, so a mixed estate reports into one register. Depth: does it carry attendance through to shifts, late rules and salary, or hand you an export. AionHRMS is vendor-independent across the two push protocols that cover the mainstream Indian market, and computes payroll from the punches it receives.

Vendor-neutral

eSSL, ZKTeco and Realtime — no manufacturer owns your data

Central templates

enrol once, push to every terminal you own

Shift engine

per-employee duty times, grace periods, late penalties

Salary out

a computed figure per employee, not a CSV

Scope: one system for every brand

Hardware accumulates over years from whichever dealer was nearest. Manufacturer software treats that as an unsupported configuration; we treat it as the default one.

  • iClock / ADMS — the eSSL and ZKTeco mainstream, and any terminal speaking standard ADMS
  • Realtime's native protocol, implemented directly rather than through an adapter
  • Both in the same account, sharing one employee list and one template store
  • Send us a model and serial and we confirm compatibility before you commit

Depth: what happens after the punch

Recording a punch is the easy half. The value is in what consumes it — and this is where most attendance software simply stops.

  • Punches assigned to the employee's own duty times, one or two shifts
  • Break-out, break-in, overtime-in and overtime-out as distinct events
  • Late marks against a grace period you configure, with a threshold before any penalty
  • Salary computed from shift units present, paid leave applied, advances settled

Control: what you can push back to the device

Software that only reads from a terminal leaves you walking to the machine for every change. Being able to write to it is what makes the dashboard useful.

  • Create an employee in the browser and push the record to every terminal
  • Push stored fingerprint and face templates so nobody re-scans
  • Block and unblock an individual's access across every device at a site
  • Sync device time, trigger live enrolment capture, release a door

What to compare when evaluating attendance software

Question to askAionHRMSWhat you often find
Supports more than one device brand?eSSL, ZKTeco and Realtime in one account. One manufacturer only.
Where do templates live?Centrally, and re-pushed to any terminal. On the device — lost when it is replaced.
Does it compute salary?Yes, from shift units with late rules and paid leave.Usually an export.
Multi-site?One register, per-site administrators.One installation per site.
What if the office PC dies?Nothing stored there.History and enrolments commonly lost.

Frequently asked questions

Can biometric attendance software work with any machine?
It works with terminals that can push attendance to a server address you control, which covers the large majority sold in India. Look for Comm, Network, ADMS or Cloud Server in the device menu — if you can set a server address and port, it is very likely supported. Send us the model to be certain.
Is there free biometric attendance software?
Yes — the tool bundled with your device. For one site with one brand it is genuinely hard to beat on price. Paid software earns its cost when you have multiple sites, mixed brands, or you want salary computed rather than exported.
Do we need to install anything?
No. The terminal talks to our server directly and you use a browser. There is no desktop client and no local database.
Can it push employees to the device, or only read from it?
Both. Employee records, fingerprint and face templates, block/unblock instructions and door releases all go from the dashboard to the terminal.

Put your existing biometric machines on the cloud

Keep the hardware. Add cloud enrollment, multi-device sync and attendance your HR team can actually read.
